Private Agricultural Interests Provided
agricultural water use estimates, water balance, and water source
information for pasture and agricultural interests in Western Colorado.
Inventoried methods and the varying efficiencies of irrigation
practices. Developed designs for water supply protection methods and
structures.
Association of Irrigators in Manitoba The
problem addressed by the project was to determine a method of measuring
the above canopy spray evaporation loss (ACSEL) occurring in the
Manitoba climate with typical field irrigation equipment and different
sources of water. Members of Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Association,
Natural Resources, Manitoba Agriculture, and Manitoba Water Resources
acted as a steering committee for the project. It was determined that
the electrical conductivity (EC) method used by several other
researchers around the world would be more accurate than other
available methods. The evaporation of the water droplets was estimated
indirectly by measuring the EC of the irrigation source water and the
EC of the water caught in catch containers directly above the crop
canopy.
